Died aged 77Cornelius Louis Wilde was a Hungarian-American actor and filmmaker. His acting career began on Broadway in 1935, followed by small, uncredited appearances in films. By the 1940s he had signed a contract with 20th Century Fox, and by the middle of the decade he was a major leading man. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in 1945's A Song to Remember.
