Doc Severinsen is a legendary American jazz trumpeter and orchestra leader best known for his decades-long tenure as bandleader on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Born Carl Hilding Severinsen in 1927, he became one of American television's most familiar musical personalities across more than three decades.
