Tom Lantos was a Hungarian-born American politician and the only Holocaust survivor ever to serve in the United States Congress, representing California from 1981 until his death in 2008. A passionate advocate for human rights, he founded the Congressional Human Rights Caucus in 1983 and is remembered as one of Congress's most eloquent voices for human dignity. He appeared in documentaries alongside 429 performers, 214 of whom are still living.
